When I read this quote, I immediately thought of the towers my kids build with their Legos. They spend so much time building up their cars, castles, and towers, only to destroy them a few minutes later. My youngest delights in destroying any tower that has been built up, without any thought for the amount of work it took me to make it for him.
Character is like that. It takes a whole lot of time to establish a good character, but only a few misdeeds to lead one to the giant toddler who will knock it down.
